I was at this gig. Many folks were waiting for a Dark Star Star or Attics since they were recently busted out. Not to be.
Pretty good show. The Love light after Hey Jude let us know the set was ending prematurley though.

I also was at this run . We hoped for the recently returned DS, but we did get a Help>Slip>Frank (12/8) that was a exciting deal at that time . On the last night, Bruce Hornsby sat in with them (shades of things to come) , and Spencer Davis made his 2nd appearance with them ( great "I'm a Man").

You are correct. For those interested....The Second set Jack Straw, China>Rider from the Sunday show is fantastic. I know many folks don't dig Hornsby's squeeze box but here it works really well. Great way to start the set. Could have used a Terrapin or something after Women are smarter but hey...

This run was a ton of fun. Fridays locale was in the tapers section at the rear of the main floor before the risers. The Dead stayed at the Four Seasons on Doheny Dr. we hung out there for a few hours @ $285 a room this was something of a value back in the day, fortunately i lived only two blocks away.

Saturday was literally spent up in the nose bleed section which was a drag upon re-listening to these tapes for there are many decent moments.

After investing 18 years on the scene my first Dark Star was less than a month away performed on 12/31/89 at the Oakland Coliseum. It was mostly a novelty due to the fact that the entire room were extra large on this evening.
